Texas Parks & Wildlife EXPO

We spent our morning today at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Expo in Austin. This event brings 40,000 + and the city of Austin very generously offers FREE shuttle bus rides to and fro. We Parked our car in front of Macy's at the Highland mall, and boarded a bus.

There was so much to see and do and a WEALTH of information. We collected several booklets that will aid this year's 4-H projects. This is a MUST SEE event for the Texas Park's enthusiasts.

Boarding...

At the Expo entrance...
Learning about native birds...

Petting the baby alligator...

Animals shown are actual wildlife taken from poachers.

There were plenty of educational and food booths, gun ranges, archery, scuba diving, biking, kayaking, wildlife, native plants, and lots of shows. So much to see and do. Never enough time.

We stood in line for FREE VENISON. Had venison meatloaf, barbecued deer, fried, sausage -- several varieties. When we first arrived, we smiled and said HELLO to one of the volunteers. We remarked how nice the day was. She replied, "Sure IS, life is better outside!"

I didn't catch what she meant, until we saw the OTHER side of the EXPO sign leaving the festivities. LIFE'S BETTER OUTSIDE!
